Next season we hope to include 4-6 youth players in the first team, some for training only but definitely some of them will make their debut and get substantial playing time. Marko Kleinen(MF), Thomas van Bommel(MF) and Milo Delrock(Wing) are training with the first team. All of them are players comfortable with the ball and with an intelligence to play forward oriented, a pressing style of football.

The policy of the club will be to put more and more effort to the academy. Therefore it’s important that the players get more opportunities and that’s why we are looking forward to the new U21 league. This March break I was supposed to host an U18 team of Osaka soccer association and an individual player from Omiya for a training camp. Unfortunately, due to the crisis the trips were cancelled. I hope to welcome them in the future. It is a great experience for players in that age to come and taste some European football. I am wishing football exchange between the Netherlands and Japan because I have seen with my own eyes how players, coaches and staff can benefit from this experience. Dutch and Japanese approaches are so different that they both can learn a lot from each other’s methods, strengths and weaknesses. The Japanese players are technically skilled and willing to sacrifice personally for the sake of the team. They are relatively well educated and therefor understand instructions and are willing to following them. They are agile, explosive and eager to improve. Dutch players, on the other hand, are more able to take individual responsibility and don’t hesitate to take risk.
I enjoy working with Japanese players as I respect the Japanese mentality a lot and understand how to make an effective mix of Japanese and Dutch strengths.Hope all the world becomes better soon and wish best for these young players.
